Johnny Appleseed Tart
A delicious tart made with fresh apples and a buttery crust, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Nutmeg - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Brown sugar - 1/2 cup
- Apples - 4, peeled, cored and sliced
- Cold water - 4 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup, chilled and diced
- All-purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). On a floured surface, roll dough to fit a 9 inch round tart pan; place in tart pan.
- In a large bowl, combine apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour filling into tart shell.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until apples are soft and crust is golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.
