Let's Get Started

  1. Peel the plantains and cut them in half. Flatten each half with a kitchen mallet.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the plantains until they are golden and crispy. Set them aside on a paper towel to drain.
  3. Season the steak with the garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook it in the same pan until it is done to your liking.
  4. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each plantain. Place the steak, cheese, lettuce, and tomato on top. Cover with the other half of the plantain.
  5. Serve the Jibarito sandwich hot.
