Jiaozi
Jiaozi are a kind of Chinese dumpling, commonly eaten in East Asia. They are one of the major dishes eaten during the Chinese New Year and year-round in the northern provinces.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Water - For sealing dumplings
- Dumpling wrappers - 1 package
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Egg - 1
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Cabbage - 1 cup, finely chopped
- Ground pork - 1/2 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the pork, cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper.
- Dip your finger in water and run it along the edges of the dumpling wrapper.
- Fold the dumpling wrapper over the filling and pinch the edges to seal it shut.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the dumplings in a single layer and cook until golden and crisp, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve the dumplings with soy sauce for dipping.
