This Japanese curry recipe is a hearty and flavorful dish made with tender meat, vegetables, and a rich curry sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooked rice - 4 cups
- Cooked meat (beef, chicken, or pork) - 2 cups, diced
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Beef or chicken broth - 4 cups
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Curry powder - 2 tablespoons
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Potato - 2 medium, diced
- Carrot - 2 medium, sliced
- Onion - 1 large, diced
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion, sliced carrot, and diced potato. Cook until the vegetables are slightly softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, curry powder, and all-purpose flour. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour in the beef or chicken broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
- Add the diced cooked meat to the pot and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
