Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture and yogurt.
  4. Mix well until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C) or the highest temperature your oven can reach.
  7. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into an oval or round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Place the rolled naan on a baking sheet or pizza stone and brush the tops with melted butter and minced garlic.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until puffed up and lightly golden.
  10. Remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
  11. Serve hot and enjoy with your favorite Indian curries or dips.
