  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown.
  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another minute.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  5. In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  6. Add the yogurt mixture to the pan and stir well to coat the chicken.
  7. Pour in the pureed tomatoes and mix well. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and stir to combine.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
