Indian Chicken Curry
This flavorful Indian chicken curry is made with tender chicken, aromatic spices, and a rich tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Yogurt - 1/2 cup
- Tomatoes - 2 medium, pureed
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Chicken - 500 grams, boneless and skinless, cut into pieces
Let's Get Started
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another minute.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt.
- Add the yogurt mixture to the pan and stir well to coat the chicken.
- Pour in the pureed tomatoes and mix well. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and stir to combine.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
