Imagawayaki
Imagawayaki is a popular Japanese street food made with a sweet pancake-like batter filled with sweet red bean paste.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Red bean paste - 1 cup
- Egg - 1
- Milk - 3/4 cup
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until well combined.
- Heat an imagawayaki pan or a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Grease the pan with a little oil or butter.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of the batter into each mold or onto the skillet.
- Place a spoonful of red bean paste in the center of each pancake.
- Cover the red bean paste with a little more batter.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown.
- Flip the imagawayaki and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the other side is golden brown.
- Remove from the pan and repeat with the remaining batter and red bean paste.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
