Hweori Gamja
Hweori Gamja, also known as Tornado Fries, is a popular Korean street food made by spiral cutting potatoes and deep frying them until crispy.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Parmesan cheese - 2 tablespoons
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - To taste
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Potatoes - 2 large
Let's Get Started
- Wash and peel the potatoes.
- Using a spiral cutter, cut the potatoes into a spiral shape.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully lower the potatoes into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the potatoes from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Sprinkle the potatoes with salt, chili powder, and Parmesan cheese while they are still hot.
- Serve the Hweori Gamja immediately, on skewers if desired.
