House Sushi Rolls
Homemade sushi rolls filled with your favorite ingredients. A fun and delicious meal to enjoy at home.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Pickled ginger - For serving
- Wasabi - For serving
- Soy sauce - For serving
- Fresh fish (tuna, salmon) - 1/2 pound, thinly sliced
- Fresh vegetables (cucumber, avocado, carrot) - 1 cup, thinly sliced
- Nori sheets - 10
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1/4 cup
- Water - 2 cups
- Sushi rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- While the rice is cooking, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar and salt are dissolved. Remove from heat.
- When the rice is done, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let the rice cool to room temperature.
- Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of rice on the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
- Arrange your chosen fillings in a line at the bottom of the rice. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, applying pressure as you roll.
- Slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Serve the sushi rolls with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
