Honey Walnut Prawns
A popular Chinese dish, Honey Walnut Prawns features crispy battered prawns tossed in a creamy, sweet and tangy sauce, topped with candied walnuts.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Condensed milk - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Mayonnaise - 1/4 cup
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Water - 1 cup
- Walnuts - 1 cup
- Cornstarch - 1/2 cup
- Egg whites - 2
- Prawns - 1 pound, peeled and deveined
Let's Get Started
- Whisk the egg whites in a large bowl until foamy. Add the prawns and toss to coat. Sprinkle with cornstarch and toss until the prawns are evenly coated.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the prawns and fry until golden, about 2 minutes per side. Remove the prawns with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Bring to a boil and add the walnuts. Boil for 2 minutes, then drain and place the walnuts on a baking sheet to dry.
- In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, honey, and condensed milk. Add the fried prawns and toss to coat.
- Serve the prawns garnished with the candied walnuts.
