Hobotnica Na Salatu
Hobotnica na Salatu is a traditional Croatian dish made with octopus, potatoes, and a tangy dressing.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- White wine vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Parsley - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Capers - 2 tablespoons
- Red bell pepper - 1, diced
- Red onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Potatoes - 500g, peeled and diced
- Octopus - 1 kg
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the octopus and cook for 45-60 minutes, or until tender. Drain and let it cool.
- Once cooled, cut the octopus into bite-sized pieces.
- In a separate pot, boil the diced potatoes until tender. Drain and let them cool.
- In a large bowl, combine the octopus, potatoes, red onion, red bell pepper, capers, and parsley.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, white wine vinegar, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to make the dressing.
- Pour the dressing over the octopus and potato mixture. Toss gently to coat everything evenly.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the Hobotnica na Salatu chilled as an appetizer or a light main course.
