Gyoza
Gyoza is a popular Japanese dumpling filled with ground pork, cabbage, and seasonings. It is typically pan-fried and served with a dipping sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Gyoza wrappers - 24
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cabbage - 1 cup, finely chopped
- Ground pork - 1/2 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, cabbage, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Place a gyoza wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the filling onto the center of the wrapper.
- Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wrapper.
- Fold the wrapper in half to form a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal the gyoza.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Arrange the gyoza in the skillet, flat side down. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Pour water into the skillet, cover, and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the gyoza are cooked through and the water has evaporated.
- Remove the gyoza from the skillet and serve hot with a dipping sauce.
