Gruyère Cheese Fondue

Let's Get Started

  1. In a bowl, combine the grated Gruyère and Emmental cheese with the cornstarch. Toss until the cheese is evenly coated.
  2. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the cut sides of the garlic, then discard the garlic.
  3. Pour the wine into the pot and heat gently until hot, but not boiling.
  4. Gradually add the cheese, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  5. Stir in the kirsch, nutmeg, and black pepper.
  6. Continue to cook gently, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thick and creamy.
  7. Serve the fondue immediately, with the bread cubes for dipping.
