Grissini
Grissini are thin, crisp Italian breadsticks. They are a great appetizer or snack, and are perfect for dipping in your favorite sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 10
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 1/2 cups
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Active dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
- Warm water - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Stir until a dough forms, then turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each piece into a thin stick.
- Place the sticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
