Gratin de Pommes de Terre
Gratin de Pommes de Terre, also known as Potato Gratin, is a classic French dish made with layers of thinly sliced potatoes, cream, and cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Butter - 2 tablespoons, melted
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Fresh thyme - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Gruyere cheese - 1 cup, grated
- Heavy cream - 1 1/2 cups
- Potatoes - 2 pounds, peeled and thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream, minced garlic, and fresh thyme over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Grease a baking dish with melted butter.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle half of the grated Gruyere and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
- Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
