Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a saucepan, heat the cream and minced garlic over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Pour half of the hot cream mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the grated Gruyere and Parmesan cheese over the potatoes.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top layer.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
- Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving.
