Goong Sarong
Goong Sarong, also known as Prawns in Golden Threads, is a popular Thai appetizer. It's made of prawns wrapped in crispy noodles and served with a sweet chili sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sweet chili sauce - For serving
- Vegetable oil - For deep frying
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Rice vermicelli noodles - 1 cup, soaked and drained
- Large prawns - 12, peeled and deveined
Let's Get Started
- Wrap each prawn in the soaked vermicelli noodles, leaving the tail exposed.
- Dip each wrapped prawn in the beaten egg.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the prawns in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve the prawns hot with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
