Goi Du Du
Goi Du Du, or Green Papaya Salad, is a refreshing Vietnamese dish. It's a perfect blend of sweet, sour, and spicy flavors.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh basil leaves - A handful, roughly chopped
- Fresh mint leaves - A handful, roughly chopped
- Roasted peanuts - 1/4 cup, crushed
- Red chili - 1, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh lime juice - 1/4 cup
- Carrot - 1 large, peeled and shredded
- Green papaya - 1 medium, peeled and shredded
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded green papaya and carrot.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and chopped chili until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Pour the dressing over the shredded papaya and carrot. Toss well to combine.
- Let the salad sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Just before serving, sprinkle the salad with the crushed peanuts and chopped mint and basil leaves. Toss again to combine.
- Serve the salad chilled.
