Ghee Rice with Basmati Rice

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Wash the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
  2. Heat ghee in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and bay leaf. Sauté until the onions are golden brown.
  3. Add the drained basmati rice to the pot and sauté for 2-3 minutes, stirring gently to coat the rice with ghee.
  4. Add water and salt to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  5. Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork.
  6. Garnish with fried cashews, fried raisins, and chopped cilantro.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
