Garlic and Ginger Basmati Rice
This aromatic and flavorful garlic and ginger basmati rice is the perfect side dish for any Asian-inspired meal.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Green onions - 2, thinly sliced (for garnish)
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 2 cups
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Basmati rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the saucepan and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the rinsed basmati rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with the garlic and ginger mixture.
- Pour in the water and add the salt. Stir well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a lid.
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and all the water is absorbed.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with thinly sliced green onions before serving.
