Gammon Steak
A classic British dish, gammon steak is a delicious and hearty meal. Served with pineapple or a fried egg, it's a pub favourite that's so easy to make at home.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Oil - For frying
- Potatoes - 2 large, for chips
- Peas - 1 cup, frozen
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Pineapple rings - 2
- Gammon steaks - 2
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your grill to medium heat.
- Place the gammon steaks under the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until thoroughly cooked.
- In a frying pan, melt the butter and add the pineapple rings. Cook until caramelised.
- At the same time, cook the peas in boiling water until tender.
- For the chips, cut the potatoes into thick chips. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large, deep saucepan to 180C. Fry the chips until golden and crisp.
- Season the gammon steaks with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the gammon steaks with the caramelised pineapple rings, chips and peas.
