Gai Tod
Gai Tod is a popular Thai street food dish consisting of crispy and flavorful fried chicken.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sweet chili sauce - For serving
- Lime wedges - For serving
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Cornstarch - 1/2 cup
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken thighs - 4, bone-in and skin-on
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine fish sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and let them marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot for frying.
- Coat each chicken thigh with cornstarch, shaking off any excess.
- Carefully place the chicken thighs in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 10-12 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the Gai Tod hot with lime wedges and sweet chili sauce for dipping.
