Ga Nuong
Ga Nuong is a delicious Vietnamese grilled chicken dish marinated in a flavorful blend of lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Lime wedges - For serving
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Ground black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Lemongrass - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Chicken thighs - 4, bone-in and skin-on
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, soy sauce, honey, lime juice, and ground black pepper to make the marinade.
- Place the chicken thighs in a ziplock bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag and massage the marinade into the chicken. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and brush off any excess. Reserve the marinade for basting.
- Brush the grill grates with vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Place the chicken thighs on the grill, skin side down, and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- While grilling, baste the chicken with the reserved marinade to enhance the flavor and keep it moist.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges for squeezing over the chicken.
- Enjoy the delicious Ga Nuong with steamed rice or a side of Vietnamese pickles!
