Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then add the milk, rum or brandy, orange zest, and lemon zest. Mix well.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the fritule from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. While still warm, roll the fritule in powdered sugar until coated.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!
