Deep Fried Ghost
A fun and spooky Halloween treat, these deep-fried ghosts are made from sweet dough and dusted with powdered sugar.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Powdered sugar - For dusting
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Egg - 1
- Milk - 3/4 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness.
- Using a ghost-shaped cookie cutter, cut out the ghosts from the dough.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F.
- Fry the ghosts, a few at a time, until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove the ghosts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Dust the deep-fried ghosts with powdered sugar before serving.
