Fried Mung Bean Cake
A delicious and traditional Asian dessert, these fried mung bean cakes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooking oil - For frying
- Wheat starch - 1/4 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Mung beans - 1 cup, soaked overnight
Let's Get Started
- Drain the mung beans and steam them for about 20 minutes, or until they are soft.
- Mash the steamed mung beans into a paste and set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water and heat until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the mung bean paste and wheat starch to the sugar water and stir until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool and solidify.
- Once the mixture is solid, cut it into small cakes.
- Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan and fry the cakes until they are golden brown on both sides.
- Drain the cakes on paper towels and serve warm.
