Let's Get Started

  1. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and form into 4 patties.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  4. Add the beef broth and thyme to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Return the patties to the skillet and top each with a slice of cheese.
  5. Cover the skillet and cook until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness, about 5 minutes.
  6. Serve the patties on the buns, topped with the onion mixture.
