French Onion Burger
A juicy burger topped with caramelized onions and melted cheese, inspired by the classic French onion soup.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Buns - 4
- Swiss cheese - 4 slices
- Thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Beef broth - 1/2 cup
- Onions - 2 large, thinly sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Ground beef - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and form into 4 patties.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
- Add the beef broth and thyme to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Return the patties to the skillet and top each with a slice of cheese.
- Cover the skillet and cook until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness, about 5 minutes.
- Serve the patties on the buns, topped with the onion mixture.
