Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
  4. Add the ground walnuts, pomegranate molasses, sugar, ground cinnamon, ground turmeric, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  5. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 1 hour, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  6. Remove the chicken pieces from the pot and set aside.
  7. Using an immersion blender or a food processor, blend the sauce until smooth.
  8. Return the chicken pieces to the pot and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  9. Serve the Fesenjan hot with steamed rice.
