Fenyuan Iced Dessert
A refreshing and sweet Taiwanese dessert made with fenyuan (tapioca pearls) and served over shaved ice.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fruit of choice - 1 cup, diced
- Condensed milk - 1/4 cup
- Shaved ice - 4 cups
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Water - 6 cups
- Fenyuan (tapioca pearls) - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the fenyuan and cook for 15 minutes, or until they become translucent.
- Drain the fenyuan and rinse under cold water. Set aside.
- In the same pot, bring the remaining 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Let it cool.
- In serving bowls, add a generous amount of shaved ice. Top with the cooked fenyuan.
- Drizzle with the sugar syrup and condensed milk.
- Top with your choice of diced fruit. Serve immediately.
