Fenway Frank with Boston Baked Beans
A classic Boston dish, featuring a grilled hot dog in a bun, served with homemade Boston baked beans.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 1/2 cup
- Molasses - 1/2 cup
- Onion - 1, chopped
- Bacon - 4 slices, chopped
- Navy beans - 2 cups, dried
- Hot dog buns - 4
- Hot dogs - 4
Let's Get Started
- Soak the navy beans overnight in a large bowl of water.
- Preheat the oven to 300°F.
- In a large pot, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the onion and cook until soft.
- Drain the beans and add them to the pot with the onions. Add the molasses, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Cover the pot and bake in the oven for 2 hours, or until the beans are tender and the sauce is thick.
- While the beans are baking, grill the hot dogs until they are cooked to your liking.
- Place each hot dog in a bun and serve with a side of the baked beans.
