Empanada Gallega
Empanada Gallega is a traditional Spanish pie filled with tuna, bell peppers, and onions. It's a popular dish from Galicia, in the northwest of Spain.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Puff pastry - 2 sheets
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Tomato sauce - 1 cup
- Canned tuna - 2 cans, drained
- Bell peppers - 2, finely chopped
- Onions - 2, finely chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and bell peppers and cook until soft, about 10 minutes.
- Add the tuna, tomato sauce, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry and place it in a pie dish. Spread the tuna mixture over the pastry.
- Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry and place it over the tuna mixture. Pinch the edges of the pastry together to seal.
- Brush the top of the pie with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
