Keftedes
Keftedes are a popular dish in Greece. These Greek meatballs are traditionally served as a meze (appetizer) and are full of flavor.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Olive oil - For frying
- Egg - 1
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Fresh mint - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
- Ground beef - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, garlic, mint, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.
- Drain the meatballs on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve the keftedes warm, with tzatziki sauce or a squeeze of lemon.
