Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Soak the glutinous rice in water for 4 hours, then drain.
  2. Cook the rice in a rice cooker with 4 cups of water.
  3. While the rice is cooking, prepare the eight treasures: soak the red jujubes, lotus seeds, walnuts, almonds, candied winter melon, and candied cherries in warm water for 30 minutes, then drain.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the cooked rice with the sugar and red bean paste.
  5. In a round cake pan, arrange the eight treasures in a decorative pattern.
  6. Spoon the rice mixture into the pan, pressing it down firmly.
  7. Steam the rice for 1 hour over high heat.
  8. Let the rice cool completely before turning it out onto a plate. Serve at room temperature.
