Döner Kebab
A popular Turkish dish that's enjoyed all over the world. This recipe features succulent marinated meat, fresh vegetables, and a tangy yogurt sauce, all wrapped up in a warm pita bread.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cucumber - 1, sliced
- Onions - 1, thinly sliced
- Tomatoes - 2, sliced
- Lettuce - 1 cup, shredded
- Pita bread - 4 pieces
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Yogurt - 1 cup
- Lamb or beef - 500 grams, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Add the meat and marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight if possible.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meat and cook until it's browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes on each side.
- Warm the pita bread in the oven or on the grill for a few minutes.
- To assemble the döner kebabs, spread some of the yogurt sauce on the pita bread. Add the meat, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cucumber. Fold the pita bread over the fillings and serve.
