Dotorimuk
Dotorimuk is a Korean dish made from acorn starch. It is a type of muk, or jelly, that is often served as a side dish or used in salads.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 4 cups
- Acorn starch - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, mix the acorn starch with 3 cups of water and let it sit for an hour.
- After an hour, pour the mixture into a pot and add the remaining cup of water. Stir well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat to low and continue to stir for about 10 minutes, until the mixture thickens into a jelly-like consistency.
- Pour the mixture into a rectangular pan and let it cool. Once it's cool, put it in the fridge for at least 3 hours, or until it's completely set.
- Once the jelly is set, cut it into bite-sized pieces.
- In a separate bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, garlic, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes to make the sauce.
- Pour the sauce over the jelly and mix well. Serve chilled.
