Curried Red Lentil Dahl

Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the lentils under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large pot, combine the lentils, water, turmeric, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the lentils are soft.
  3. While the lentils are cooking, heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is soft and golden.
  4. Add the curry powder to the onion and garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Add the tomatoes to the pan and cook for a few minutes, until the tomatoes are soft.
  6. Stir the onion, garlic, and tomato mixture into the lentils.
  7. Serve the dahl garnished with fresh cilantro.
