Chocos Fritos
Chocos Fritos is a traditional Portuguese dish from Setúbal. It's a simple and delicious dish where the cuttlefish is the star.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Flour - For dusting
- Pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Lemon - 1, juiced
- Parsley - A handful, chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Cuttlefish - 1 kg, cleaned and cut into strips
Let's Get Started
- Season the cuttlefish strips with salt, pepper, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and lemon juice. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan.
- Dust the marinated cuttlefish strips in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Fry the cuttlefish strips in the hot oil until they are golden and crispy. This should take about 5 minutes.
- Remove the fried cuttlefish strips from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
- Serve the Chocos Fritos hot, garnished with extra chopped parsley and lemon wedges on the side.
