Chili Con Carne
A hearty and flavorful chili made with ground beef, beans, and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Optional toppings: - Shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 tablespoon
- Chili powder - 2 tablespoons
- Beef broth - 1 cup
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Kidney beans - 1 can (15 oz), drained and rinsed
- Canned diced tomatoes - 1 can (14.5 oz)
- Bell pepper - 1, diced
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, diced
- Ground beef - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes to toast the spices.
- Add the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, and beef broth. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it cook for at least 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.
- Serve hot with optional toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions.
