Cha Houy Teuk
Cha Houy Teuk is a traditional Cambodian dessert made with agar agar, coconut milk, and various toppings.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Assorted toppings (such as cooked mung beans, jackfruit, and tapioca pearls) - As desired
- Pandan leaves - 2 leaves
- Palm sugar - 100 grams
- Coconut milk - 400 ml
- Water - 500 ml
- Agar agar powder - 10 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a saucepan, combine the agar agar powder and water. Let it soak for 10 minutes.
- Add the pandan leaves to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the palm sugar and stir until dissolved.
- Remove the pandan leaves from the mixture.
- Pour the coconut milk into the saucepan and stir well.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Pour the mixture into individual serving bowls or molds.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
- Once set, top with your desired toppings before serving.
