- Water - 4 cups
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Bay leaves - 2
- Paprika - 1 tablespoon
- Potatoes - 4, chopped
- Carrots - 2, chopped
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onions - 2, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Pork shoulder - 1.5 kg, cut into chunks
Let's Get Started
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the pork and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the onions, garlic, carrots, and potatoes. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
- Add the paprika, bay leaves, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Return the pork to the pot and add the water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 2 hours, or until the pork is tender.
- Serve the cazado de cerdo hot, with crusty bread on the side if desired.
