Caramelized Onion, Fig, and Bacon Pizza
A sweet and savory pizza with caramelized onions, figs, and crispy bacon.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Fresh basil - A handful, torn
- Goat cheese - 1/2 cup, crumbled
- Mozzarella cheese - 1 cup, shredded
- Bacon - 6 slices, cooked and crumbled
- Figs - 1 cup, sliced
- Onions - 2 large, thinly sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Pizza dough - 1 lb
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized, about 15 minutes.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- If using a pizza stone, carefully transfer the dough to a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet dusted with flour. If not using a stone, place the dough on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the dough, leaving a border for the crust. Top with the figs, bacon, mozzarella, and goat cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the preheated stone, if using) and bake until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned, about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle with the torn basil before slicing and serving.
