Caramel Slice
A deliciously sweet treat, this caramel slice combines a crunchy biscuit base with a rich caramel filling and a smooth chocolate topping.
Ingredients - Serves 16
- Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
- Dark chocolate - 200 grams
- Golden syrup - 2 tablespoons
- Sweetened condensed milk - 1 can
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Brown sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 1 cup, melted
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a square baking tin with baking paper.
- Combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and flour in a bowl. Press the mixture into the base of the prepared tin and bake for 15 minutes.
- While the base is baking, combine the sweetened condensed milk and golden syrup in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until the mixture is smooth and slightly thickened.
- Pour the caramel over the baked base and return to the oven for another 15 minutes.
- Allow the caramel base to cool completely.
- Melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil together in a microwave or over a double boiler. Pour the chocolate over the cooled caramel and spread evenly.
- Refrigerate the slice until the chocolate is set. Cut into squares to serve.
