Buffalo Mo:mo
Buffalo Mo:Mo is a popular Nepali dumpling dish made with buffalo meat and served with a spicy tomato chutney.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt - To taste
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Green chili - 2, chopped
- Tomatoes - 4 medium, chopped
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Water - 1 cup
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Salt - To taste
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Buffalo meat - 500 grams, minced
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, combine the minced buffalo meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- In a separate bowl, prepare the dough by mixing all-purpose flour and water. Knead until you have a smooth dough.
- Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of the buffalo meat mixture in the center of the dough circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges by pressing with your fingers. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan for frying.
- Carefully place the mo:mo in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the fried mo:mo from the oil and drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
- To make the tomato chutney, blend the chopped tomatoes, chopped green chili, grated ginger, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, lemon juice, and salt in a blender until smooth.
- Serve the buffalo mo:mo hot with the spicy tomato chutney.
