Borek
Borek is a traditional Turkish pastry made with phyllo dough and filled with cheese, spinach, or ground meat. This recipe uses a cheese filling.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Parsley - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Olive oil - 1/4 cup
- Eggs - 2
- Mozzarella cheese - 1 cup, shredded
- Feta cheese - 1 cup, crumbled
- Phyllo dough - 1 package
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
- In a bowl, mix together the feta, mozzarella, eggs, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush with olive oil. Place another sheet on top and brush with more oil. Repeat until you have a stack of 4 sheets.
- Spread a thin layer of the cheese mixture over the top sheet of phyllo. Roll the dough up tightly from one end to the other.
- Place the roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining phyllo and cheese mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the borek cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
