Bo Luc Lac is a classic Vietnamese dish, featuring stir-fried beef that's been marinated in a savory-sweet sauce. It's typically served with a side of rice and a simple salad.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooked white rice - 4 servings
- Lettuce leaves - 8
- Tomatoes - 2, cut into wedges
- Green bell pepper - 1, cut into thin strips
- Red onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Beef sirloin - 1 pound, cut into 1-inch cubes
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the beef, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
- Add the beef and stir-fry for about 2 minutes, or until it's browned but still slightly pink in the middle. Remove the beef from the wok and set it aside.
- In the same wok, add the onion and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes, or until they're slightly softened.
- Return the beef to the wok, along with the tomatoes. Stir-fry for another minute, or until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Serve the beef on a bed of lettuce leaves, with a side of rice.
