Beef Vindaloo
Beef vindaloo is a spicy and tangy Indian curry dish made with tender beef, aromatic spices, and a flavorful sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Water - 1 cup
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 2 teaspoons
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Beef - 1 lb, cubed
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, marinate the beef cubes with red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, vinegar, and salt. Let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the marinated beef cubes to the pan and cook until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pan, and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
