This delicious beef gyro is made with tender marinated beef, fresh vegetables, and creamy tzatziki sauce, all wrapped in warm pita bread.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Pita bread - 4 rounds
- Red onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Cucumber - 1/2, diced
- Greek yogurt - 1/2 cup
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Beef sirloin - 1 pound, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced beef and toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated beef slices for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, diced cucumber, chopped dill, salt, and pepper to make the tzatziki sauce.
- Warm the pita bread rounds on the grill or in a toaster oven.
- To assemble the gyros, spread a spoonful of tzatziki sauce on each pita bread round. Top with slices of cooked beef, tomato slices, and thinly sliced red onion.
- Fold the pita bread in half and serve the beef gyros immediately.
