Beef Curry
This flavorful beef curry is made with tender beef, aromatic spices, and a rich tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Salt - To taste
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Tomatoes - 2 large, diced
- Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
- Curry powder - 2 tablespoons
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Beef - 500 grams, cubed
Let's Get Started
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the beef cubes to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.
- In a small bowl, mix together the curry powder, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and cayenne pepper.
- Add the spice mixture to the pot and stir well to coat the beef and onions.
- Add the diced tomatoes and coconut milk to the pot, and season with salt to taste.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
- Serve the beef curry over steamed rice or with naan bread.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
