Bayan Kharaa
Bayan Kharaa is a traditional Mongolian dish made with lamb, potatoes, and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Water - 2 cups
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, chopped
- Potatoes - 4 large, peeled and diced
- Lamb - 1 kg, cut into cubes
Let's Get Started
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Cook until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
- Add the lamb cubes and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add the cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to coat the lamb with the spices.
- Add the diced potatoes and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour, or until the lamb and potatoes are tender.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
