Barreado, a traditional Brazilian dish from the state of ParanĂ¡, is a slow-cooked meat stew prepared in a clay pot. The pot is sealed with a sort of clay made from wheat or cassava flour, hence the name 'Barreado'.

  1. In a clay pot, layer the beef, onions, garlic, bacon, tomatoes, cumin, black pepper, and bay leaves.
  2. Add enough water to cover the meat.
  3. Seal the pot with a paste made from wheat flour and water.
  4. Cook on low heat for about 12 hours.
  5. After cooking, shred the meat and mix it with the sauce in the pot.
  6. Serve with rice, cassava flour, and sliced bananas.
